This ZOOM Town Hall meeting will provide the opportunity for anyone to meet Federal MP Tako Van Popta (up for re-election for Langley/Aldergrove) and hear the current state of affairs from the side of an MP fighting for firearm owners.  Tako is himself a PAL holder and has come out strongly to support and defend firearm owners from the government's systemic discriminatory polices aimed directly at licensed firearm owners.

Tako has written a letter to the firearm community - you can download and read it here: Letter to Firearm Community

All persons welcome!  Please share this with others - both firearm owners and/or those that need to understand how their tax dollars are being wasted by the current government while doing virtually nothing to stop violent criminal activity in Canada.

Background:

As all licensed firearm owners know (and the public that are properly informed), the Liberal government has, over the past many years and continues to do so even recently, introduced legislation which clearly constitutes "systemic discrimination" towards sport shooters that utilize a firearm in the enjoyment of their sport.

This legislation, which includes C71, and currently C21 and C22, as well as the dictatorial OIC, are all being forwarded in the name of enhancing public safety, targeting sport shooters, while for the most part totally ignoring gangs, criminals and gun smugglers (except to the benefit of criminals through reduced sentences for those convicted of firearm-related crimes - see Bill C-22).

Clearly criminals do not obey rules or the law, so this predominantly bureaucratic legislation will have no effect on them. They will also not be affected when legal firearms are taken from licenced owners that are not the real problem - as the criminals will keep theirs and continue to smuggle more into the country - business as usual!  Unfortunately, since the Liberals have paid approximately $600 million to the "Liberal approved" mainstream media through taxpayer "kick-backs", the facts and idiocy of these policies are not reaching the public except through non-government funded media outlets which refuse to bow to government pressure to forward the Liberal's agenda of lies.

The Liberal government continues to show absolutely no evidence for the potential of "enhanced public safety", and have even gone to the point of refusing a Federal judge's court order to produce all materials and evidence of this in their decision-making process for their May 1 2020 OIC in order to hide the injustice of their actions.

The OIC, a dictatorial order which prohibited over 1500 types of firearms on May 1 2020, is, for the most part, an arbitrary list of civilian sporting firearms that the RCMP continues to add to without prior consultation or oversight. The Liberal government and the RCMP failed to destroy the non-restricted firearms registry as ordered by Parliament (that they lied about saying they did) and have continued to use it, and are now adding to it through new requirements in Bill C71.

Enforcing the OIC dictatorial order, which will confiscate the legal property of Canadians without consultation, will cost taxpayers upwards of an estimated $2 -$5 Billion dollars, which could be better spent on youth/gang avoidance programs, policing, border control and criminal containment to mention only a few.

As such, a continued Liberal government would be highly detrimental to all sport shooters in Canada (over 2 million sport shooters currently), and steal from the public taxpayer, funding that should be properly directed towards solving the real issues of criminal violence, instead of harassing licensed firearm owners.
